SHE SANG A YESTERDAY
Tonight at Yesterday
She sang memories to me
And we lived out a day
Full of all that couldn't be.
She sang with her eyes
And I listened with mine.
Her voice, tonight, to my surprise
Had energy, almost, divine.
As music rolled down her cheeks
Her melancholy pitch climbed peaks.
Her deep voice filled the even deeper night
I could hear the echoes in my blurring sight.
The moonlight lent a glow to her face
And brought back flashes from the past.
Before we realised,
My lips drew hers apart
We kissed with all the pain amassed.
Tonight nobody sings at Yesterday
But the bells of memories still ring
Blown by the wind of hope
Hope - that once again she shall sing.
Tonight at Yesterday
She sang memories to me
And we lived out a day
Full of all that couldn't be.
She sang with her eyes
And I listened with mine.
Her voice, tonight, to my surprise
Had energy, almost, divine.
As music rolled down her cheeks
Her melancholy pitch climbed peaks.
Her deep voice filled the even deeper night
I could hear the echoes in my blurring sight.
The moonlight lent a glow to her face
And brought back flashes from the past.
Before we realised,
My lips drew hers apart
We kissed with all the pain amassed.
Tonight nobody sings at Yesterday
But the bells of memories still ring
Blown by the wind of hope
Hope - that once again she shall sing.
